Hello and welcome to the University of Worcester Rowing Club!
UWRC was founded in 2004 and ever since has increased in numbers and strength year on year. Last year was no exception seeing the biggest improvement to date. We currently have one University employed coach and two volunteer coaches, who are extremely passionate about the sport. During 2009/2010 the club attended a number of regattas and head races including BUCS (British Universities & College Sport) regatta. Where the club had its best ever result with two crews reaching the semi finals and three more making it to the quarter finals. This success has once again caused us as a club to be noticed and not to be underestimated by other universities and clubs. At the end of the season the top men’s 4 attended the world renowned and highly prestigious Henley Royal regatta.
Other great achievements the club has made this year include becoming three times world record holders and being awarded the best sports club 2010 by the University. We have also managed to raise enough money through fundraising to buy two new boats, something I am very keen to keep going.
This year I am hoping the club will grow further and improve on the year passed. And that for the first time since it was founded have a solid senior crew.
As well as all the training and racing we also have a very good social side of the club weather its getting together for a messy night out or just meeting up for a BBQ.
